Mary Mullenix Robinson

Mary M. Robinson – age 93, a long time resident of Chickasaw, Alabama, died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, June 9, 2013. She was born in Gordo, Alabama on March 14, 1920. She moved to the Mobile area in 1942 and worked at International Paper Co. in the lab until 1956, when she became a full-time homemaker. Mary’s love of the Lord and her faith were an example to everyone she met. She was a long-time active member of Lafitte Baptist Church in Saraland (formerly First Baptist Church of Plateau), serving as WMU Director for many years, working in the Children’s Sunday School Dept., and singing in the choir. She also served on the Mobile Baptist Association WMU Council for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Effie Mullenix; brothers, Floyd, Hubert and Cliff Mullenix; and sister, Ola Bell Smith. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Delors C. (Pete) Robinson; daughter, Victoria McVay (Mike); two brothers, Fred and Searcy Mullenix; two sisters, Catherine Shirley and Tootsie Ayers; special sister-in-law, Ollie Y. Robinson, and a host of nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the caregivers who lovingly cared for Mrs. Mary for the last 2 years. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2013 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Mobile Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home, 6512 Grelot Rd., Mobile, AL 36695.
