Michael Eugene Cook, age 70, of Semmes, went home to be with Jesus on the afternoon of May 19, 2026. His family finds comfort knowing he knew the Lord and is now at rest. Mike was a devoted husband of 46 years, a loving brother, father, and Pawpaw, a loyal friend, and a man of great strength who loved his family deeply. After a long career in engineering and construction management, Mike enjoyed spending time deep-sea fishing with his brothers and sons. Mike was known to many as a man of many talents who could fix anything. He had a remarkable work ethic and a deep love for Alabama football.
After being diagnosed with leukemia, Mike fought a difficult battle, but he never lost hope or faith. He was a true fighter and endured extensive treatments and frequent travel to MD Anderson Cancer Center. Throughout his journey, he was faithfully supported by his wife, Linda, his brothers James and Pat, and his children. Even as his health declined, he never gave up hope. Mike was born in Chickasaw to Aubrey Hillard Cook and Eloise Dixon Cook and was one of five children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Eloise Cook, and his sister, Rebecca “Becky” Collins.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Linda D. Cook; his children, Derick Cook (Whitney) and Steven Cook (Kristen); and his cherished grandchildren, Emilyn (15), Wyatt (12), and Oakleigh (8). He is also survived by his siblings, James Cook (Marsha), Patrick Cook, and Toni Duncan (Travis), along with many nieces and nephews, and other relatives, family and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 26, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Radney Funeral Home - Saraland, with the service being held at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Rodney Mauroner officiating. Interment will follow at Valhalla Memorial Gardens.
