Minnie Merle Stevens – A native of Mobile, AL and longtime resident of Eight Mile passed away Friday, February 17, 2012, in a local hospital. She is survived by her husband, Leonard “Hookie” Stevens; two daughters, Mildred (Jerry) Pierce and Gwen (Terry) Batchelor; two sisters, Gracie Ellison and Mary Alexander; one brother, Henry Lewis; three grandchildren, Doni Batchelor, Lynn Pierce and Derek Pierce; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and other relatives. Funeral services will be Monday, February 20, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland with Rev. Johnny Jernigan officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in Mauvilla Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doni Batchelor, Derek Pierce, Gene Alexander, Alex Alexander, Larry Stevens and Joe Hart. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Ashton Blessey, Dr. Brian H. Sumrall, Scott Roberts, the staff at Springhill Medical Center, and her two caregivers, Carlean and Sandra. AL.
