Raymond was an employee at International Paper for 43 years. He retired from the control room #5 & #6.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rexford and Ada Singley; one daughter, Brenda Singley Guthrie; two great-granddaughters, Kristen Guthrie of Birmingham, AL and Victoria Leigh Wilhoit of Huntsville, AL; and sister, Polly Chesnut of Pensacola, FL. Raymond is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sara Varner Singley; one son of their marriage, Raymond A. Singley, Jr. of Mobile; three stepchildren, Lee Kelly (Sheila), Billy Kelly, and Kerry Grider; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly; his first wife, Ada Crumpton Jones of Birmingham and their four children, William Lee Singley (Sheryl) of Pensacola, Brenda Leigh Guthrie and Penny Leigh Howell of Moody, AL, and Janet Singley Duff (Steve) of Mobile. He is also survived by three of his siblings, Robert Singley (Mary) of Ft. Worth, TX, Royisee Shirah of Daphne, AL, and Rita Nichols (Ralph) of Mobile, whom he loved and enjoyed reflecting back on his child with; three siblings he met late in life but grew to love also, Lynn Taylor (Regina) of Saraland, Yancy Taylor (Mary), and Ruby Taylor Lind, both of MS.
In his later years, he enjoyed woodworking and was was designer and owner of Southern Charm Woodworking on Shelton Beach Road. He loved making things beautiful.
Raymond accepted the Lord in 1970 at Shelton Beach Road Baptist Church and for years struggled with things in this life. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Saraland.
He is finally at home in the presence of His Heavenly Father and many family and friends that preceded him in death - accepted and at peace at last.
Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, August 28, 2023, at 11 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
