Born on June 24, 1943, in Mobile, Alabama, Bobby lived and worked in Eight Mile, Alabama where he co-founded and ran Ford’S Electric Company with his brother Jimmy. Bobby also worked as an instrumentations planner at Evonik Degusa, and, more recently, as an electrical inspector for the City of Saraland. Never without a twinkle in his eye and a joke for his colleagues, Bobby was much loved by his co-workers and friends, and especially enjoyed all the young people he was able to mentor over the years.
The true center of Bobby's life was his family. Warm and patient, Bobby delighted in the time he spent with his wife and children, as well as his grandchildren, for whom he always had a ready hug and a secret stash of candy. He also relished time with his close friends, most notably, Mr. Eugene Henderson, Mr. Freddy Craft, and Mr. Tommy Vice. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, including Mikey, his special buddy who greeted him nightly with tail wagging, ready for playtime.
Bobby was a member of Kushla- Bethany Baptist Church in Eight Mile, Alabama and a true Christian. Generous to a fault, Bobby truly modeled Christian love and charity to those who knew him.
Bobby is survived by his wife Sue; a son and daughter, Edward Ford (Lindsey Wallace) and Ashley Fleming (Greg); three grandchildren, Amber Fleming, Kizzie Fleming, and Amelia Ford; his brothers Wallace Ford and Jimmy Ford (Bobbie Ann); sisters Patsy Stevens (Joe) and Sandra McDavid (John); and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Mabel Allen Ford and Leon W. Ford; brother, Edward M. Ford; sister, Joyce Thomas; sister-in-law, Gerry Ford; nieces and nephews, Gregory Ford, Christian Ford, and John McDavid IV
