Robert Thomas DeVan

Robert "Bob" DeVan was a long time resident of Saraland, AL., passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Bob served in the United States Navy as a cook on the USS Oriskany. He was a long haul truck driver and retired from US Metals. He loved fishing, hunting and being surrounded by family and friends. He was a kind and friendly man. Bob never met a stranger. He was always willing to jump in and help whether with a wrench or a kind word. Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jewell DeVan, daughters, Vicki Wyres, Joyce Stein and son, Carl Selby. He is also survived by his brother, Chris DeVan, sisters; Betty Todd, Nancy Chrystler, Janet Schlarb (Connie), Pattie Sommers (Kevin), Peggy Clark, Mary Gritzmaker, uncle, Verland DeVan, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and his beloved dog Precious . He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Marge (step-mother) DeVan, mother, Irene Jernigan, brother, Tim DeVan, sister, Jo Nemeth and beloved daughter Dawn DeVan. Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home Saraland on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Mobile Memorial Gardens.
