Ruby Alice Townsend

Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her husband, Willis A. Townsend, Sr., sons John H. "Butch" Townsend and Willis A. "Bobby" Townsend, Jr., and grandson Phillip Shane Townsend.

She is survived by her children Michael (Carol) Townsend of Kushla, AL; Ronny (Sharon) Townsend of Eight Mile, AL; Walter (Tammie) Townsend of Saraland, AL; and Laura (Justin) Skelton of Kushla, AL. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grand-children, great-great-grand-children, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Mrs. Townsend was a member of Shadowlawn Baptist Church, where she previously served as Sunday School teacher and WMU Director. She was also a member of the Clarke County, AL Historical Society, Alabama Historical Association, as well as the Cherokee Tribe of Northeast Alabama. To the end, she was a devoted, loving, & faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother, daughter, and sister that was an active leader in her family, and a great Christian role model to all she met.

Visitation will be held at Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Friday evening October 14, 2011 from 5-8 pm. The service will be Saturday October 15, 2011 at 10am.
