Shirley Hester Thrift

Shirley Hester Thrift, an 88 year-old native of Millry, Alabama and resident of Mobile, Alabama passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2024. She worked as a clerk at a pediatric office for a time and was a former member of the Prichard/Chickasaw Jaycettes. Mrs. Thrift was a member of Moffett Road Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, shopping, and couponing.

Mrs. Thrift was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett Bateman; second husband, Jake Thrift; and daughter, Leslye Mitchell. She is survived by five children, Jackie Conner (Andrew), Deborah Hodges, Sherry Adams (Glenn), Michael Bateman, and Monika Askew (Crews); grandchildren, Valerie Holloway (Michael), Kelly Conner, Staci White (Stephen), Jason Hodges, Jerrod Hodges (Hydie), Ashley McCormick (Jim), Jeff Adams, Gregory Adams, Mitch Mitchell, Nicki Askew (Matt Rhodes), and C.J. Askew; brother, David Hester (Joann); many great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Radney Funeral Home in Saraland on Monday, July 8, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until the service hour.
