Tyrone Cordell (Ty) Chandler, age 62, passed away Thursday, February 17th, 2022. Ty was born in Mobile, Alabama on September 11th, 1959. He grew up in Citronelle, AL and later lived in Satsuma, AL, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida and spent the last 4 years of his life as a resident of Chickasaw, AL. He was a member of Harvest Church of God in Saraland, AL.
Ty graduated from Bel Air Christian School in 1977. Afterwards, he served in the United States Air Force from 1979 to 1983. He then began his career at International Paper where he worked until the Mobile plant shut down.
Ty is preceded in death by his father C.L. (Leroy) Chandler. He is survived by his beloved daughter Victoria Chandler Cummings, son-in-law Kyle Cummings, grandson Jackson Cummings, a soon to be born granddaughter, his mother Juanita Ard Chandler, sister Tammy Chandler Lane (Jack), brother Scott Hunter Chandler (Aurora), beloved aunts Shirley Colburn & Gloria Sanders, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
To know Ty was to love him. He was a selfless man and he impacted many lives. Ty never met a stranger and always pulled for the underdog. He was a Godly man who was full of faith. He told his grandson everyday, “Jackson, you are healthy, wealthy, wise, intelligent, and talented”. He overcame many health issues during his life and each time he gave the glory to God.
Ty grew up attending Shelton Beach Road Baptist Church. It was there that he asked Jesus to be his Savior. He cherished his time that he lived in Santa Rosa Beach where he met many friends and attended Hope Lutheran Church.
Ty’s family would like to thank the CCU doctors and nurses at University Hospital who provided him with compassionate care during the last weeks of his life.
Instead of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Stroke Association in memory of Ty. Funeral services will be held at Shelton Beach Road Baptist Church on Thursday, February 24th at 11 a.m. where friends may visit one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m.
