

Arline Lois Hartnup, (née Schwertfeger), 78, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2016 after a short illness.
Born on September 7, 1937 in Milwaukee, WI, she moved to Sarasota as a young girl and married Wayne Allen Hartnup on September 7, 1956. She graduated from Sarasota High School, attended the University of Tampa where she was a member of the Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, and attended and graduated with her Associate's Degree from Manatee Junior College.
She was predeceased by her parents, Olga Ida Anna Blank and Alfred Ferdinand Friederich Schwertfeger, of Milwaukee, her brother, Donald Alfred Schwertfeger of Sarasota, and her best friend, Susie Lewis.
She worked as a court secretary for the Juvenile Court of Sarasota County and volunteered extensively, serving as PTA president for Fruitville Elementary School, as a Girl Scout leader, as a poll worker, and at her children's schools. She is survived by the loves of her life; her husband for 59 years, Wayne Hartnup, and their three daughters and five grandchildren; Melody (Scot) Boeringer-Hartnup and their daughter and son, Tabitha and Daniel; Janice (Jesse) Jones and their daughter and son, Hailey and Ian; and Diana (Dan) Burns, and their daughter Kiera. She will also be dearly missed by her brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Charles Hartnup, her son-in-spirit, Jesse Jones, and her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mama will always be with us at Hartnup's Eden.
Services will be held at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, at 11:30 AM on May 28, 2016 with interment to follow at the cemetery there.
