
Barbara Arlene Langdon passed away at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Sept. 2, 2021 following a surgical procedure. She was 76 years old.
She is survived by her husband Carl of 59 years, 3 children, Jim Langdon of Sarasota, Cindy (JR) Thayer of Bradenton and Wendy (Stephan) Groninger of Mocksville, NC. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was born on a farm in Granite Falls, Minnesota on July 24, 1945 where she lived for the first 6 years of her life. The family then moved to Rockford, IL for a better opportunity for the family. All of her education was accomplished in Rockford. She went to grade school at Whig Hill, junior high at Wilson Middle School and high school thru her junior year (1962) at Auburn High School.
She married Carl T Langdon Jr. on August 25, 1962. Their family moved to Sarasota, FL. on Dec. 26, 1977. She has been a Sarasota resident for 43 years and a member of Elwood Park Baptist Church in Bradenton for 18 years.
She was proceeded in death by a son Richard, her parents King and Arla Merrell, 2) brothers, Waldo and Wayne Merrell, and 2) sisters, Judy (Gary) Smith of Rockford and Ilene (Fred) Langdon of Wisconsin. She has 2) sisters still living, Eldoris (Fred) Palm of Rockford and Karen (Steven) Nettleton of Idaho.
She worked in the electronics component field at Hilton and a second facility on Cattleman Rd. in the 80s and 90s. She worked in the retail field for many years before retiring from Target in the late 2000’s. She also worked in 2005, 2006 part time for the Christian Book Store on Tuttle.
She has served in the nursery at church for 13 years. Memorial contributions can be made to Elwood Park Baptist Church if desired. Their address is 3516 45th St. Bradenton, FL.
She is missed far more than she would ever imagine. A Celebration of Life service will be planned in the near future, date to be determined.
