David Warren Dickerson, born April 17, 1965, in Huntington, West Virginia, entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on July 4, 2025, in Sarasota, Florida. With a spirit as big as his laugh, David filled the world around him with warmth, humor, and a light that lifted others. His joyful presence was a gift from God, and his memory will continue to shine in the hearts of those who loved him.
David is preceded in death by his beloved brother, James Gregory Dickerson, with whom he is now reunited in Heaven. He is survived by his mother, Gaynel L. Black (Adkins); father, James F. Dickerson and wife Sandra Dickerson; children, Mickala M. Waites (Dickerson) and Tyler J. Dickerson; two grandchildren, Camden and Cole Waites; niece, Olivia Prince (Dickerson); nephew, James D. Dickerson; and uncle, Lowell “Herb” Adkins and wife Connie.
David’s life was a testament to resilience, kindness, and a heart that sought connection. He lived with courage and loved without reservation. We take comfort knowing he now rests in green pastures and beside still waters, held safely in God’s eternal peace.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Robert Toale & Sons at Palms Memorial Park, with Rev. Elizabeth Turk officiating. The family will welcome friends one hour prior to the service.
