David was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he was on the basketball team, and the State College of Florida.
He was a Registered Nurse and worked at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Florida in the cardiac unit for the past 15 years.
David loved dogs and he and his wife, Patricia rescued many over the years, with a big heart especially for Great Danes that needed a loving place to call home.
He spent many years caring for Patricia's late mother, Mary Sweeney, and her brother, John Sweeney before they both passed away.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia (Sweeney) McManus of Sarasota, Florida, his brother, Joseph Rusty McManus of Connellsville, Pennsylvania; his aunts, Dolores Seese of Dunbar, Pennsylvania and Rose McManus of Charleroi, Pennsylvania; many loving cousins; as well as many dear friends in Connellsville that he sat on the wall with.
David always said he wanted "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd played at his funeral, so play it in memory of him.
Memorial donations in David's memory may be made to the Humane Society.
