Dorathy Mae Howe

Dorathy was born in Oxford, Indiana, to Arthur Paul and Mary Gertrude Kult Wildey on March 19, 1922. She graduated from McKinley High School in 1940. She attended classes at Herzel Junior College and Wright Junior College in Chicago, Illinois.

Dorathy did some modeling from 1941-1942. She worked for Rayethon TV Manufacturing Telenews Theatre and Jewel Foods. She married Walter Paul Howe on February 12, 1944. They were also foster parents for five years to Shirley and Patricia Rentas. Dorathy and Walter moved to Sarasota in May 1979. Dorathy was a member of Incarnation Catholic Church Women’s Club, Widows Club Ministry, Arimethean of Incarnation, volunteer at Senior Friendship Center, Mote Marine, Fantastic Finds, and SRQ Airport. Dorathy was an avid artist. She enjoyed playing cards and taking cruises.

Dorathy moved to Tampa in 2013. She attended St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church. She was a member of SMARTS and Msgr Kevin S. Muellen Columbietts.

Dorathy is survived by her children, Dolores Mary Howe Kettner (Terry decd.) and Walter Paul Howe, Jr. (Laurel); grandchildren, Sean Kettner (Lisa), Dawn Kettner, Sara Cox (Brian), Katie Howe and Alex Howe; and great grandchildren, Devyn Kettner, Caleb Cox, Colton Cox, Claire Cox, Mila Schroeder and Bram Schroeder.

Dorathy is predeceased by her parents, Arthur Paul Wildey and Mary Gertrude Kult Wildey, and her brothers Leonard, Donald, and Robert.

A visitation for Dorathy will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232. Following the visitation will be a graveside service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Avenue, Sarasota, FL 34232.
