Elsie Amelia Romero Carmona, 92, of Sarasota, Florida passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024 in her home. Born in Tarrytown, New York on June 15, 1931, she was the daughter of Lorenzo and Mercedes Romero.
Elsie was the beloved wife of Rafael Carmona, Sr. for 62 years. She was also the devoted mother of Rafael Carmona and his wife Rosemary Frado Carmona of Sarasota, Florida, Frank Carmona of Port Townsend, Washington and is survived by five terrific grandchildren; Elizabeth Carmona Cruz, Julia Carmona Wilkerson, Michael Carmona, Adam Carmona, Eileen Carmona Lacusta.
Prior to moving to Sarasota in 1991, Elsie worked as an administrator at Lincoln Memorial Hospital in New York City. Motivated by a deep love of people, she resumed her advocacy in health care as a volunteer at Sarasota Memorial Hospital where she developed many amazing relationships with staff and volunteers. Elsie’s other passion was her zealous following of the New York Yankees. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 9:30 am at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Dr, Sarasota, Florida.
