Born on October 29, 1940, in Sarasota, Florida, Gus was the beloved son of the late Giustino and Ermide Cristiani Loyal. He was part of the legendary Loyal-Repensky Equestrian Bareback Riders, brought to America in the 1930s by John Ringling. Gus proudly followed in his family’s footsteps in the entertainment industry, traveling across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico with carnivals and amusement rides for over 20 years.
Gus honorably served his country in the Army Coast Guard Reserves. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, hunting, and cheering on his favorite team, the Florida Gators.
Later in life, he became the proud owner and operator of Charter Boat Shark, working as a boat captain until his retirement. The family legacy continues with his son, Tino, now at the helm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Remo Loyal; and his sister, Gloria Loyal.
Gus leaves behind his devoted wife of 62 years, Martha “Marti” Loyal; children: Giustino "Tino" Loyal, Lora Loyal, and Aldo Loyal (Carol); grandchildren: Giustino "Justin", Derek, Neko, Carina, Carisa, Tori, and Domenic; seven great-grandchildren; brothers: Dan Loyal (Wendy) and Timi Loyal (Liz); and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory.
Now his life’s journey has ended. The times we had with him passed too quickly.
Our cherished thought remains: “When at first you don’t succeed… call Dad.” He will be greatly missed.
Friends and family are invited to gather on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 AM.
