Gordy Babcock, born May 6, 1935, of Elkhorn, WI, died peacefully on Mar. 28, 2019, in Sarasota FL, after a long illness. He is preceded in death by parents, Gordon & Gertrude Babcock. He is survived by wife, Patricia; children, Tracy (Mike) Essman & Ward (Colleen) Babcock; sister, Nancy Davey; brother, Randy Babcock; grandchildren, Jazz (Josh) Brellenthin, & Jay Essman; great-grandchildren, Noah & Rylee Brellenthin; and many nieces, nephews, and friends from both Elkhorn & Sarasota, FL.
Gordy graduated from Elkhorn HS where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, & tennis; and from UW- Whitewater with a Bachelor’s degree. He married in 1959; proudly served in the US Navy; and was a manager at Sterlingworth Motor Inn – Lauderdale Lakes; and Sales at Tasch Motors in Elkhorn.
Gordy enjoyed watching all sports, and playing golf & tennis in his later years. He was an avid fan and loved his Chicago Bears & Chicago Cubs. He especially loved his time spent with family. Some of his greatest pride & joy were his children, grandchildren, and great- grandchildren.
A private family service will be held.
