Gordon was born to the late Richard “Lefty” and Helen Yonker in Bradford, PA.
When he was 17, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. In 1956 he married the love of his life Wanda Minich. Gordon was honorably discharged from active duty in 1958 and returned to Bradford until he and his family relocated to the Sarasota area in 1960.
He worked for a concrete ready mix company until 1976 when he started his own business, Yonker’s Tractor Service, a site development and demolition construction company.
Gordon liked to fish and golf. He enjoyed watching professional sports and racing. Most of all he loved his family. They always came first.
He is survived by his two sons, Richard (Sharron) Yonker and Brian (Sherri) Yonker, both of Bradenton; daughter, Wendy Waters of Sarasota; brother, Tom (Jeanne) Yonker of Rochester, NY; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 6 until 8 pm on Fri. July 24, 2015 at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home.
Services will be at 10 am on Sat. July 25, 2015 at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home & Memorial Park.
Gordon was truly loved and will be missed deeply.
