Born in 1915 in Clyo, GA, he moved to Florida with his family in 1924 and has lived in Sarasota and Myakka City until his death.
Hilton was in the electric motor & pump business all his life and was an avid orchid grower. He and his wife Helen traveled all over South America collecting orchids and he participated in creating the Selby Gardens Tissue Culture Laboratory.
He was a pilot and flew his own plane for many years. He was a lifetime member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the American Orchid Society.
Hilton was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Helen Shafer Morgan, and grandson Kyle Wilson.
He leaves three children, Julia Wilson and husband Toney, Hilton H. Jr. "Butch" and wife Kathy and Michael Morgan and wife Laurie; five grandchildren, Lori Schlotterback, Kendel Wilson, Michelle Morgan, Tommy Morgan and Sarah Morgan; nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Helen and Hilton will be held Saturday, February 9, 2013 at 3:00pm at Palms-Robarts Funeral Home, Sarasota.
