James Farrell Tucker Sr., age 85, a longtime resident of Sarasota passed away on Sunday January 5, 2020. James was born July 13, 1934 in Fairmont, West Virginia to the late Ona F. and Marie (nee Gross) Tucker.
After 34 years of employment, James retired from Florida Power & Light. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for nearly 60 years.
He is survived by his loving children, Lurine Kowal, James F. Tucker Jr. (Lisa), Karon Berkery (Pete), Tami Treadway and Michelle McVey (Corey) and his three stepdaughters, Valerie Grinols, Becky Bolletti and Cynthia Breslin; sister, Carolyn Jefferson; 16 cherished grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. James will also be missed by his companion, Fran Steiger. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Tucker.
A graveside service with Military Honors will begin at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heroes Welcome Home, 8235 Blaikie Ct., Sarasota, FL 34240.
