Jeff was born in Bangor, Maine and raised in Melrose, Massachusetts. In his youth, he was a very proud Eagle Scout, as well as National Badminton Champion, which began his love of racquet sports.
After serving in the United States army, Jeff worked as a manufacturer’s rep with a number of chemical companies. In 1983, Jeff started his own rubber release coatings business, Calzin Inc., which manufactured and sold products to the rubber industry worldwide.
In 1979, he met Jackie Smith, the love of his life. They were married in 1981. The family then spent 20 wonderful years in Marblehead, MA. In 1998, Jeff and Jackie began a new chapter in their lives here at Laurel Oak. They enjoyed all the golf activities and many lasting friendships in this beautiful community. During this time, they travelled the world experiencing different cultures and customs, but they always loved coming back home to Sarasota and Laurel Oak.
Jeff was smart, funny, and sometimes outrageous. Everyone who knew him was familiar with his boisterous, irrepressible laugh. He loved life; he loved his family; and, he was not afraid to let that wonderful laugh ring loud and clear. On the golf course or at a party, he was easy to find - just listen for that joyous laugh.
Jeff was predeceased by his sister, Candace Blanchard; and his parents, Philip and Priscilla Blanchard. Jeff will be sadly missed by his son, Jeffory Jr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Charlene and John Moeckel, as well as his many friends and family in Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Florida.
There will be a service at Church of the Palms on Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Laurel Oak Country Club. If you plan to attend, please RSVP to Sherry Lane at Laurel Oak, 941-378-3608.
Our deepest sympathy goes out to Jackie and her family at this most difficult time.
