

He was born on March 25, 1949 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington,DC to the late Lumir and Donna (Buffer) Buresh. Jon earned his bachelors degree in Aeronautical Engineering in 1972 from the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He also received his masters degree of Science in Avionics Engineering from Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California.
Jon served proudly in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Commander. He was a rescue helicopter pilot and deployed on missions around the world. One of his missions was his deployment to the Indian Ocean on the USS Eisenhower and acted as back up carrier to the Iran Hostage rescue attempt. Jon also worked 29 year’s for Boeing on the military side and retired in 2013.
Jon married his beloved wife, Tina in Maui, Hawaii on July 15, 1996; he was an Eagle Scout; a member of USNA sailing team and eventually earning a masters in sailing. He was also a Master Bridge Player and an avid golfer.
Jon is survived by his wife Tina; sister, Mary Holzer (Jack) of Overland Park, Kansas; sons, Christopher (Catherine Lewis) of Washington, DC, and James (Aliona) of Daytona Beach, FL.; children by marriage, Erica Buresh of Barnesville, Minnesota, Chad Lee (Sarah) of Hawley, Minnesota, Chase Nguyen (Teresa) of Castro Valley, Ca., Matthew Nguyen (Malori) of Lake St. Louis, Missouri and his grandchildren, Xavier, Heidi, Tanner, Hunter, Hannah, Jared, Wyatt, Lucy, Lily and soon to be Haley.
Jon was adored and will be deeply missed by his loving wife and family.
