Joyce was born on May 12, 1940, in Sarasota, Florida, and was a proud graduate of Sarasota
High School. Throughout her life, she was known for her quiet strength, steady devotion to
family, and the warmth she brought to every gathering.
Joyce built a career in aviation technology, specializing in electronics assembly for flight data
recorders. She worked for many years at EMR, a company later known as L3Harris
Technologies, where her dedication and attention to detail were deeply valued.
She was married to her beloved husband, Bud (Herman) Steinhoff, on December 6, 1999. Bud
preceded her in death on October 13, 2020. Joyce found great joy in supporting Bud and sharing
in all of their mutual adventures—whether following trains, enjoying Fantasy NASCAR, hosting
family get-togethers, caring for their Myakka Valley home, or spending time with their horse and
her cherished cat, Whiskey.
Joyce was a longtime member of The Salvation Army Church earlier in her life, an experience
that helped shape her values and provided a lasting spiritual foundation that guided her with
faith, kindness, and compassion throughout the years.
She is lovingly survived by her children, Marjorie Hansen of Dallas, Texas; Tamy Califano
(Ron) of Arcadia, Florida; and Larry Williams Jr. (Christy) of Hudson, Florida; her stepchildren,
Bonnie Steinhoff of Sarasota, Florida; Bill Steinhoff (Diana) of Indiana; and Robert Steinhoff of
Sarasota, Florida; as well as 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and three great-greatgrandchildren,
and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 5, 2026, at Robert Toale & Sons at
Palms Memorial Park, Sarasota, Florida.
Joyce will be remembered for her loving heart, her steadfast devotion to family, and the gentle
grace with which she lived her life.
