Kimball R. Bobbitt
31 août 1942 – 3 octobre 2021
Kimball Bobbitt passed away on October 3, 2021 in Sarasota, FL from complications related to Parkinson’s Disease.
Kimball Bobbitt was born August 31, 1942 in Jacksonville Florida to Kimball R Bobbitt and May Ingle Bobbitt. He was raised in the Lakeshore neighborhood and he attended Lakeshore Elementary, Lakeshore Junior High, and Robert E Lee High School graduating in 1959. While at Lee he was a member of the swim team.
Kimball then attended Furman University and transferred to the University of Florida during his Freshman year. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting at UF in 1964 and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order.
Kimball met Kathleen Holt in Jacksonville while they were both teenagers. When Kimball first saw Kathy, he told a friend “I’m going to marry that girl.” They dated throughout college and were married in Jacksonville in 1966.
Kimball’s first job out of school was as an IRS agent in Los Angeles, California. He earned his CPA certificate and came back to Jacksonville where he worked as a CPA for national CPA firms Arthur Young and Touche Ross. Kimball then became Vice President of Finance for the Charter Company in Jacksonville. In 1984, Kimball signed back on with Touche Ross and was transferred to Sarasota, FL as the Partner in charge of the office. Touche Ross sold the Sarasota practice to Kimball and his Partner Keith Pittenger and in 1986, Bobbitt, Pittenger & Co. was founded. Kimball operated the firm until his retirement in 2020.
Kimball served as a Board Member and Chair of the Education Foundation of Sarasota. He also served as a Board Member of Sarasota Military Academy and the Field Club. Kimball was also active in Rotary and the Sarasota Sportsmen’s Association.
Kimball loved the outdoors, especially the water. He was most happy when he was out on his fishing boat in Sarasota Bay or in the Gulf catching Spanish Mackerel. He liked living in Sarasota, but his heart was always in North Florida, especially the St. John’s River in Palatka and Vilano Beach in St. Augustine. He was also a lifelong Florida Gator football fan.
Kimball is survived by his wife of 55 years, Kathleen, and his brothers, John of Richmond, TX and Mark (Krista) of Taylorsville, NC. Kimball is also survived by his two sons, Russell (Nancy) of Sarasota, and Jeffrey (Ana) of Middleburg, FL as well as his grandchildren Nathan, Nicholas, Samantha, and William Bobbitt and Hailey and Christopher Smith. Memorial Services will be held Tuesday October 26, 2021 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at the Church of the Palms in Sarasota.

Kimball was my accountant for about 40 years. He was always a straight arrow gentleman, a professional and a man of integrity you could count on. I was always proud to know Kimball and wished the world was full of similar men. The world is a less evolved place without him. I wasn't close to Kimball, but always counted him as a friend.
