

LaVerne graduated from Greensburg High School and then attended Beauty School in Indianapolis. After a short stint working in beauty shop, she then was a telephone operator and worked at Delco Remy Battery Plant. LaVerne and her husband William built a boarding kennel at their residence in Anderson, and LaVerne managed the business after opening the kennel.
LaVerne was an advanced bridge player, enjoyed going to the movies and was avid reader. LaVerne loved animals and collected hedgehog crafts. She and her husband breed basset hound dogs prior to moving to Sarasota in 1977.
She is survived by her brother, Lyle (Bea) Clark of Indianapolis, her niece Marjorie (Dennis) Weber of Greensburg and her niece Penny Porter, who was by side at her passing. Laverne was the loving aunt to many other nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Laverne will also be missed by devoted kitty Sonny, who was her constant companion around the house for the last two years of Laverne’s life.
She is preceded in death by her parents Omer & Eithel Clark, her husband of over 60 years, William, sisters JoAnn Ricke, Mary Ellen Logsden, Doris Porter, brothers, Richard Clark and Albert Clark
LaVerne had a wonderful 90th birthday party on March 10th that will serve as her life’s celebration.
