She was born on Christmas Eve in 1934 in Blue Diamond, Kentucky to Victoria and Charlie Butler. She was a very proud coal miners daughter but lost her father at a very young age. Victoria remarried and the family then moved to Deputy, Indiana and became tobacco farmers, which Lois was also very proud to tell stories of picking tobacco to anyone that would sit with her and listen to her reminisce.
She married Roger Colwell, also a proud Appalachian, on October 20, 1953. They had two children, Teresa and Roy. The family moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1976.
Lois loved all her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger.
Lois is survived by her children, Teresa Anzaldua and Roy Colwell; three grandchildren, Travis, Shantel and Jackie; and two great grandchildren, Jayden and Jayla.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232.
