Mary Mercandetti

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, daughter, sister, aunt, and cherished friend, Mary Theresa Lucy Mercandetti, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, at the age of 87.

Born on April 7, 1936 in the Bronx, New York, she married her childhood sweetheart, Ronald Mercandetti. They raised their children in Manhattan, while Mary pursued her professional career. Mary embodied the resilience and spirit of her vibrant city throughout her life's journey. This was no small feat for a woman of her or any era.

Mary was a devoted wife to Ron and a loving mother to her eight children. Her love and dedication far extended to her eleven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren whom she adored and cherished deeply.

Beyond her immediate family, Mary touched the lives of countless others, including nieces, nephews, and a wide circle of friends. Her warmth, generosity, and infectious laughter endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Though she may have left this world, Mary's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of love and resilience will endure for generations to come. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered, but we know she is with the Lord and dancing in the sky with her Ron.

A funeral service will occur Monday, March 18, 2024 at 8:30 AM at Incarnation Catholic Church, 2901 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL 34239. A committal service will occur Monday, March 18, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sarasota National Cemetery, State Road 70, Sarasota, FL 34241.
