

Patricia "Pat" Jonah, age 76, of Sarasota, FL, passed away unexpectedly on July 21, 2023 from complications of a non-cancerous GI tract disorder. She was born on October 12, 1946, in Nogales, Arizona to M Jerome and Billie Jeanne Franklin. She attended elementary and junior high school in South Houston, TX and moved to Uvalde, TX in 1961. She graduated from Uvalde, TX High School in 1964. She earned a B.S. in Elementary Education from Texas A&I University (now Texas A&M), Kingsville TX. She taught middle school in San Antonio, TX from 1968 to 1973 and then in Del Rio, TX from 1973 to 1974. She met her husband Craig, an Air Force Pilot, while in Del Rio. Pat left teaching to begin raising her family and followed her husband as the family moved from Del Rio, TX to MacDill AFB, Tampa, FL; Moody AFB, Valdosta, GA; Ramstein AB, Germany; Homestead AFB, FL; HQ Air South, Naples, Italy; and finally, HQ Allied Forces Central Europe, Brunsum, The Netherlands. Pat was able, and thoroughly enjoyed, traveling all over Europe during the 10 years the family was stationed there. The family left the military following their last tour in Europe in 1993 and settled in Sarasota, FL.
Pat was never happier than when family and friends came to visit. She was known for her warmth, generosity, her sense of humor, laughter and kindness to all. She loved animals and brought in and cared for three stays over the years.
While in Sarasota, Pat made many friends and became very involved in various hobbies such as Flower Arranging, Ukrainian Egg Painting, creating Tamari Balls and Quilting.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, her beloved brother William "Bill" J. Franklin, and her two nephews Mathew and Jay Carson. Surviving family members include her husband of 49 years, Craig M. Jonah, her brother Terry Carson; her son Jason M. Jonah and his wife Erika; daughter Jeanne H. Beck and her husband William "Bill" Beck; her grandchildren Kristen Beck and Ian Beck; her sister-in law Ann Franklin; her nephew William Bradley Franklin “Brad”; her nieces Dana L. Franklin and Rebecca Wills; as well as grand-nephews Harlan and Conrad Wills. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Robert Toale & Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL where the family will receive friends from 10:00 am to service time.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the charity of donors choice in Pat's memory.
