Raymond Edward Williams Sr., 86, originally of Newark, New Jersey and a longtime resident of Sarasota, Florida, went to be with the Lord on December 7, 2016. Ray proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine, he was a Golden Gloves boxer, and a police officer in Newark, New Jersey. He also loved animals and the arts. Ray is survived by his son, Raymond E. Jr (Jennifer) of Sarasota; his daughters, Cynthia Morris of Sarasota, and Beverly (John) Roth of Cave Junction, OR; sisters, Eileen Bryan, Evelyn Soltys, and Margot Raymond; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren on the way. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60+ years, Theresa Fannie Williams. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 from 5-7pm at Palms Robarts Funeral Home; 170 Honore Ave in Sarasota. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at 10am at St. Martha’s Catholic Church; 200 N Orange Ave in Sarasota. Burial will follow the service at Palms Robarts Memorial Park.
