Dear Michael:
Even though we only met one year ago, the amazing and close connection was instantaneous and the 4 of us became best friends immediately.  Renita and Joanie grew up only 5 blocks from each other in Baltimore it turned out, and they had so much in common.  We are so thankful we could spend time in Sarasota together in January, and of course we spoke almost every day.  Joanie considered Renita and still does, a very best friend - the two were just like sisters.
We will never forget Renita and feel so very close to you.  We are so sorry for your losing a wonderful wife and friend.

Renita was such a beautiful person, inside and out.  I have memories of going to her house as early as a toddler with my mom. I remember loving her house, her decor, and admiring her beautiful paintings as a child. She had great taste! I always appreciated her warm and kind spirit and I always had so much fun visiting. As I got older, my family and I spent many Christmases at Renita and Michael’s and those times were so fun and fondly remembered. Renita was a wonderful host and I remember one holiday, she made matzoh ball soup just for me. This is the kind of person she was. She would go above and beyond to make people feel special and appreciated. I am so saddened learning of her passing. She was someone the world could have used much longer, as she was inspiring, caring, fun, and someone to look up to. I am so thankful that she was able to knit my daughter a beautiful blanket and hat before she passed, as we will treasure it even more now. Sending all my love.

I remember Renita from so many years ago!  We lived next door to her on Cylburn Avenue in Baltimore. She was our very favorite baby sitter. She was such a sweet and reliable sitter. My children loved her!  To the entire family - I’m so very sorry for your loss.

Aunt Renita!

Thank you for connecting me with four different relatives I met in my travels. You had a big impact on helping me connect with the Jewish side of my heritage.

I’ll tell a little bit about each of them:

In Jerusalem, Israel, I stayed with my third cousin Lev Israel and his family for a week in November 2014. We even had Thanksgiving dinner together along with a bunch of other Americans.

In May 2016 I saw Howard Damie in Montreal who bought me dinner at a kosher restaurant.

Marc Cohen met me in Boston for falafel in January 2017.

And my fourth cousin Jason Flaster showed off his van that he was living in near San Diego in February 2018.

Thank you again Renita, we all love you.

Renita Ron and I will miss you so very much.  We were looking forward to spend more time together as my retirement approaches.  You were such a comfort to me when my cats were diagnosed with diabetes and helped me through it.  Also how you loved when it was windy for your bike ride and you knew how much I hated it.  Missing you already my beautiful friend 

Renita was a dear friend for more than 30 years. I grew up a few houses down on Siesta Key. Renita gave me my first paying job filling orders for Lioness when I was 10 or so. She remains my favorite boss. Just last year, Renita sent gifts for the birth of my second child, including a beautiful hat for my daughter that she knit herself. 

My memories of Renita are filled with her kindness and warmth. She rose above life's difficulties with an unusual dignity and always cared more for others than for herself. I cherish our conversations, and my world already feels incomplete knowing she is no longer with us. 

I send my deepest condolences to Michael (another true friend!) and to her family. We will all miss this extraordinary woman. 

We are saddened at the loss of Renita who has brought joy and caring to so many.  Our parents were cousins and Renita went out of her way to keep the ties among us.  As children, we spent time as our families visited.   As adults, we had lost regular contact, as so often happens.  But mother posted a photo of a grandson's bar mitzvah in the Baltimore Jewish Times.  Renita had a subscription, living in Florida, and recognized the resemblance to her son!  She contacted us and our reunion began!  And continued over the years.
Our thoughts are with all of her family.

My family and I would like to send special condolences to Renita's family!  I personally have fond memories of her!! She welcomed my mother and I over 30 years ago to spend the night at their house in Florida, which was very gracious of them!! I have grown up knowing that Renita was family to us....she has always been family!! And when I have reached out to her via facebook, she always responded even though we personally really didn't correspond but that made her so unique!! I am sure she is at a better place and will be watching all of us!!

Renita was as special as they come. Her smile lit up any room she graced. Renita was there for me when my parents separated-she taught me how to knit  and we spent time together in Reno and Squaw Valley  with our golden retrievers. 
I was inspired by how Renita found joy in everything she did. 
When Renita first began her chemo therapy back in 2021, I picked a spirit animal for her from a deck of cards. Something to help take her mind off things and to sort of help maybe guide her. It was a stingray. The stingray represented moving through discomfort,  new challenges and a pivotal point for personal growth.  I found this perfect for our dear Renita as she was such an active person that I know she was having difficulty with the fact that she might not be able to do as many activities that she loved but Renita keep her head up and seemed to find comfort in knowing she was surrounded by many people who loved her, cared for her and supported her no matter what. I will miss you and always love you dear Renita. You were very special to me and I will always remember the times we shared together.  <3Thinking of you Michael and sending all my love.

All because of 2 dogs who were sisters….I meant the most amazing, kind, generous, caring woman who over the years became such a wonderful friend . I shall so miss our talks and your laughter and your caring ways who else but you would send me a care package of lavender after my accident or find that so needed cat food and have it arrive at my doorstep the next day and oh who else will I talk with and hear the wind as she rides those 13 + miles on her bike each day !

To Mike and immediate family, Renita was always, fun, and joyful on the annual catch up visit and asked the best caring questions. I loved seeing them both, over many years, still light up for each other.  I know you will so miss how she lit up

I met Renita years ago at a running club in Coral Springs, Florida. 
She was an excellent runner and took the sport very seriously.
She was very proud of her trophy room in Sarasota and with good reasons. It was well worth the tour.


Renita and I met when we were 9. A long time ago. We never had an argument. We have shared joys and sorrows   confided in each other  we were proud of each other’s accomplishments I wish Michael   Kevin   Kia  family and friends comfort in knowing you shared your lives with an extraordinary woman  she loved all of you with her generous heart   you were blessed and so was she ❤️

Renita and I would meet at Starbucks to chat and knit. She knew so many of the people that came and went, it was like she was holding court!

Renitta and I met many years ago when I lived in Florida. She was a seasoned runner, and I had just started running. After I got some distance under my feet, we would run together. One of the favorite stories in my relationship with Renitta Is that she would not run a marathon without my blessing her running shoes! I was a Christian at that time in my life so I would anoint  them with corn oil, say a blessing prayer, and off she would go! 
She later told me that as she was passing someone in a long distance race , they called out “ how can you run so fast?” She quickly replied “ because my friend Linda blessed my shoes!”

I knew Renita to be an outgoing and friendly cousin.  She would always compliment photos and videos of our family, especially,  photos of the kids. I am sure that she will be much missed by many. Condolences to her family and friends. May her memory be a blessing. 

I was so shocked at the passing of Renita her and my husband faced timed about their treatments they were going through with colon cancer. I enjoyed talking to her about our love of jewelry and interior design. I had the pleasure of meeting Renita at her gorgeous home in Florida. To Michael and family, Tex and I are grieving with you to have lost beautiful Renita, both inside and out. We have wonderful memories of Renita which we will always cherish! Tex's memories from young playful cousins and forward, mine from early college days 1962 and forward. Renita matched Tex and I together in 1962, and we have always been thankful, and blessed for her intervention. I wish we had lived closer, but thru the years, seeing her occasionally, her energy, vitality, and beautiful smile will remain in our thoughts. Our hearts are full of sadness, as we truly loved her. Steve Becker. Renita will be missed by all. She was a great person 

I so love you.  You were everything Best in Spirit, Mind and Body.  I was blessed and fortunate to have you as my Best Friend, Sister by Choice, Godmother to my sons.  I am, in large part, who I am because of your loyalty, care and love you gave me.  You loved me for me, I had never known this until I met you 32 years ago.   

Renita was my sister from another mother.  She always called me “Steven” (not Steve) which always made me feel even more like her brother.  I’ll always cherish the times we were together, be it when I was a little boy and she and Joette would take all of the neighborhood kids to the playground with a huge thermos filled with kool-aid and treats in a little red wagon, all the way to the present day where we shared our love for animals, especially dogs.
Now, it almost feels like a piece of me is missing.  I love you, Renita and will always keep you in my heart.  I will always keep fond memories of our times and talks together.  R.I.P. ❤️

My condolences to Michael and to Renita's sons, siblings, extended family, and friends. Renita contacted me decades ago, introducing herself as my cousin.  I learned about my American relatives thanks  to her and met some of them, as well as Renita herself and Michael. Our subsequent correspondence, which included genealogical findings, family news, and holiday greetings, was something I valued.  I think of her with great affection.  I  and my sister Eve will miss her greatly.
