Richard “Ricky” Angelo Ferrari, Jr., (58) of Sarasota, Florida passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning, December 1, 2024. He was born on July 4, 1966, at the Quonset Point Naval Hospital in North Kingstown, Rhode Island to Cheryl Ann (Bloomfield) Ferrari and Richard Angelo Ferrari, Sr.
Ricky attended schools in North Kingstown, thereafter, was a valued employee of Trea Industries, later known as Toray Plastics America, until he relocated to Sarasota, Florida in 1992. His new focus was cooking and he took employment as a line cook and catered at various establishments. He had a passion for cooking and he thought often about opening his own restaurant serving New England fares.
Ricky was a member of Beth Messiah Messianic Congregation and in 2004 he became a Bar Mitzvah under the guide of Rabbi Judah. He knew the Bible inside and out and faithfully followed the Messiah. He loved spending time fishing with his dad and his nieces and nephews. He often would have a car full of his niblings to catch the latest movie and to lunch right after. Ricky was an avid sports follower, a beloved Red Sox fan, a loyal LA/St. Louis/LA Rams fan, and he enjoyed bowling. He learned to bowl at Kingstown Bowl at an early age. He bowled in leagues there and when he moved to Florida he joined the Sarasota Lanes bowling leagues. He was very passionate about his opinions and loved to argue with you about anything. He loved his family and friends dearly and his cheerful spirit, his generous nature, the “me verses you” arguability, his quick wit, his infectious humor and his innate ability to make people laugh is what made him who he was and who we loved. He often talked about the old neighborhood and our friends we grew up with. They all held a special place in his heart and would often bring up a funny story to share. He loved DC comics, old school 70’s cartoons, the Three Stooges, and Monty Python. He loved to play chess and monopoly and he could solve a Rubik’s cube very fast. He used to ask us to scramble the cube so he could solve it again.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Angelo Ferrari, Sr who passed on May 13, 2023, and his Godmother, Constance (Bloomfield) Pannone who passed in October 2005. In addition to his mother, Cheryl, he leaves behind two sisters, one brother and their families: Karen (Jason) McGuire, Christine (Kenneth) Dyer and David Ferrari, all of Sarasota, Florida and many nieces and nephews who cherished Ricky as a loving and supportive uncle: his Godson, Timothy (Chrissy) McGuire, Amanda McGuire, Angelica Parker, Haven Parker, Dakota Dyer, Alexis Ferrari, Faith Ferrari, and Devin Ferrari. He leaves one great-nephew, Jeremy Lynam and one great-niece, Zoey McGuire.
He is also survived by his stepbrother, James (Gloria) Staley of Westerly, Rhode Island, half-sister, Jessica (Mike) Ferrari of Waterford, Connecticut and half-brother, Donald (Meagen) Ferrari of Richmond, Rhode Island and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rabbi Judah will be officiating a gravesite service at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL 34232, Tuesday morning, December 10, 2024, at 10:00.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Beth Messiah Messianic Congregation through their website at https://bethmessiah.life in the name of Richard Angelo Ferrari, Jr.
