Robert John Madden

Bob grew up in Havertown, PA and graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School. He was a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard for five years. He worked as a salesman for his entire career, retiring as Vice President of Sales for Hebrew National.

Bob traveled all over the United States; there were only two states he never visited, Alaska and North Dakota. Bob married Barbara on September 4, 1965. After his marriage, he lived in Morrisville, PA, until he moved to Havertown, PA. He joined Hebrew National Foods in New York and moved to Ringwood, NJ in 1976, and resided there until 2004. While in Ringwood, he served on the Board of Heath for many years. Bob became the chairman of the Ringwood Ice Hockey League and supervised the building of an outdoor hockey rink. He later became chairman of the Ringwood Recreation Committee where he persuaded the town to build a new football, soccer, baseball and softball fields. In addition, if a team lost a baseball coach, he would step in and take over the team.

Bob was an avid sports fan. He loved Florida and played in a golf group on Sunday’s. He was a board member of the New York City Food Bank, a member of Cupsaw Lake Improvement Association and St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara; loving children, Robert Madden Jr. (Bridget Urso) of Commack, NY, Michael Madden (Tina) of Irvine, CA, Melissa McOmber (Thomas) of Sarasota, FL, Brian Madden (Sarah) of Brighton, CO and Paul Madden (Susan) of Carlsbad, CA; siblings, William Madden and Virginia Weir, both of Gainesville, FL and cherished grandchildren, Kyle, Luke, Alexandra and Stella Madden, Amanda and John Madden, Cole McOmber, Blake, Paige and Brooke Madden and Emily Madden.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 PM on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Palms Robarts Funeral Home, 170 Honore Ave., Sarasota, FL 34232. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 2506 Gulf Gate Dr., Sarasota, FL 34231.
