battle with cancer. Robert passed in Sarasota, FL where he resided for over 44 years.
Born on December 24th, 1944 in Fremont, OH, the son of Wilfred and Agnes Ochs, Robert, lovingly called Bob, paved the life that he wanted for himself and his family.
Bob was a family man first, and a businessman second, raising five beautiful children with his wife of 59 years, Kathryn (Kuns) Ochs. He was well regarded for his work at Northern Trust Bank as well as his philanthropic contributions to the community of Venice, acting as chairman of the Venice Hospital Foundation, a member of Sertoma, a board member of the South County Resource Center, and a supporter of the arts in Venice. He was honored for establishing the Venice Hospital Foundation Endowment Fund at Manatee Community College (now known as the State College of Florida) in 2005. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Sarasota, FL.
Bob displayed many admirable traits, he was a natural born leader, he was determined and passionate, and arguably the most important facet of his personality was how he established a beautiful sense of family. He valued those dearest to him, creating opportunities for his children, and in turn, his grandchildren. He made sure to give his family all that he could, making sure that their future aspirations were a reality rather than a distant dream.
Bob loved to travel and attend various events with his wife Kathryn, oftentimes letting the kids tag along on some of the adventures. When he was back at home, he enjoyed landscaping. It was uncharacteristic of him to not have a pristine yard, as he was constantly outside tending to it. He led his life with an unimaginable grasp on conscious thought and diligent fulfillment.
We will all miss Bob’s strength, leadership, fervor, and the warmth of his smile. We find comfort within our sorrow knowing that he is now at peace and no longer in pain. Thankfully, we can all remember him through our everyday lives as his contributions were worldly, we will think of him when we know he would feel proud.
Bob is survived by his high school sweetheart and forever soulmate, his wife, Kathryn Ochs; his brother, Eugene Ochs; his daughters, Tracey Marie (Tracy) Hunter, Stephanie (Rich) Bell, Kimberly (Dan) Reynolds, his son Robert M. Ochs; his grandson, Reese Bell, granddaughter, Emilie Bell, granddaughter’s, Regan and Riley Reynolds, and grandson, Sebastian Hunter. He is predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Beth Ochs, and his brothers, Donald Ochs, Frank Ochs, and James Ochs.
On behalf of Robert “Bob” Ochs, we ask that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a contribution to the Tidewell Foundation and the American Cancer Society.
A celebration of life will be held January 11th, 2025, from 3:00pm-6:00pm at 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota, FL, 34232 - Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park.
