The Celebration of Life of Roy (Rohendra) Singh
“Be wise, respectful, and humble, as you approach life. You never know what tomorrow will bring, so appreciate what you have today and live in the moment.”
- Roy (Rohendra) Singh, November 29, 1967 - July 15, 2020
On Wednesday, July 15, an angel went home to be with the Lord. That angel was our beloved Roy, a truly wonderful and amazing soul. Roy was a son, a dad, a husband, a grandfather, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a nephew, a friend, and a colleague. Though he spent just 52 years here on earth, Roy remains so much to so many of us. He was kind, caring, generous, humble, devoted, dedicated, disciplined, meticulous, passionate, charming, and artistic.
Roy was born on November 29, 1967, in Georgetown, Guyana. He was the first son and second child of Rose and Sase Singh, the first grandson, the first nephew, and the first male cousin. His childhood was filled with years of love and laughter with his family. In 1985, at the age of 17, Roy moved with his parents and his younger siblings, to Minnesota, to pursue the American Dream.
In his personal life, Roy pursued pastimes that he often shared with his family. He enjoyed golfing and racing fast cars with his son, Devin; drawing and painting with his daughter, Caila; creating Guyanese dishes and watching movies at home with his daughter, Chastity, and his wife, Candice Singh, of five years, and visiting family and friends. Roy was also a favorite uncle to his nieces and nephews. During his alone time, Roy read and created beautiful furniture for his home. He also passionately led a healthy lifestyle of eating right and exercising frequently.
Shelly, Roy’s sister, said, “We sometimes take the word - LIFE - for granted but Roy never took his life for granted.” To Roy, life was not just being physically present on earth, it was about cultivating meaningful relationships with his family and friends. We thank each and everyone of you for the special connection you had with Roy. You helped make Roy, the beautiful soul we love and miss.
For 25 years, Roy led a successful career in IT project management with multiple recognitions for his outstanding work. One co-worker shared, “Roy was a great project manager and leader. He was a life-long learner respecting and caring for his family and his team. No matter what life threw at him, Roy was able to get up, learn from the experience, and reach for new opportunities. He was a man who truly cared for others. We will miss your laughter, your sense of fun and adventure, your passion, your love. Thank you, God, for the gift of Roy.”
Our beloved Roy is survived by his parents, Rose and Sase Singh; wife, Candice Singh; children - Caila Singh, Devin Singh, and Chasity Cooper; siblings - Annie Singh-Quern, Shelly Bheer, and Rob Singh; grand daughter, Eliana (Caila); nieces, Olivia and Connor (Annie), Asha and Anusha (Shelly and Sohan), Aryan (Rob and Renuka), and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins who are spread all over the U.S. and Guyana. Gone but not forgotten are: grandparents - Pearl and Seenana Singh (Rose), Ramdeholl and Mangri Singh (Sase); uncles - Seetaram and Deonarine Singh; and cousins - Sandra Poukkula and RJ Sankar.
“Roy, you were an angel who left your imprint of kindness onto others.” Though we were not able to say our final farewell to you, we will continue to love you and cherish the rich memories we shared with you.” - Shelly Bheer, sibling of Roy
