Hi Susan -

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom.  I'm definitely thinking of you.  One of my fondest memories of Sally was going to the Tina Turner Concert with her.    She helped us get amazing seats!   Sally had a great sense of humor and was fun, and thoughtful.

My grandma meant everything to me. From a very young age, she was someone I looked up to and admired for many reasons. She was such a loving grandmother to her three grandchildren. She loved her two children, Tom and Susan Bonner. The way my grandmother would light up talking about her late husband, Jim Bonner, I could tell she loved him so much.
My grandma was truly the life of the party. I remember all of the stories she would tell me about when she was younger and her days as a stewardess. She would tell me all the time how much she loved all of her friends and she really enjoyed meeting new people.
She was such a positive and light-hearted person. When I was younger and still in school, she would call me and ask me how my grades were. I would tell her some A’s, some B’s, and maybe a C in math. She would boost my confidence immediately and say how great those grades were and she would remind me how her grades in school were all F’s. Following that, we would both start laughing and she would tell me how she hated school and never got good grades.
One of my favorite memories of my grandma was when she and my aunt Susan would take me to the Drake Hotel in downtown Chicago for my birthday. We would have tea and finger sandwiches and we would laugh and enjoy our time together. Whenever it was someone’s birthday, my grandma would go out of her way to make that person feel special and loved. I could not have asked for a better grandmother.

I would have so many phone conversations with my grandma; maybe one every two to three weeks or so. No conversation lasted less than 30 minutes. We would talk about our days, recent events, exciting things that were happening, etc. She would make her rounds calling each grandchild and spoke to each of us for the same amount of time. That was just how kind and loving my grandma was. I would give anything to have one more phone call with her.
I will miss her so much. 

I have so many memories with Sally, from living in a 10 bed dorm in AAL Stewardess school over an AAL hanger at Midway airport in Chicago. Studying in the bathrooms when the lights went out at 10p, Hooked up with 3 other girls, Phyllis, Cathy, and Pat to make a group of 5. We all got Chicago as our base. We lived in the Shoreland hotel, 3beds,2couches. Sally made our lives there a fun place. Then we all got kicked out because of to many noisy parties. Then we moved into an apt an had more parties. It's memories like this that kept all 5 of us together for 60 some years. Weddings babies, visits, the Kiwi club. Sally and Phyllis stayed in Chicago, Judy to TX, Pat to Palm Springs, Cathy to SFO. I just know she is having a party with angels, with God as the Mother Superior.

What beautiful memories shared thus far....  My heart goes out to Susan, a dear friend, and her family.  Your Mother left a beautiful legacy and now she’s with her husband and your father at peace with the Lord in her mansion.  It’s so not easy losing a Mom, but know that she’s always with you in spirit....  And, her body, mind and spirit have been renewed.  With all my love, comforting hugs and kisses for you Susan and the Bonner Family.  🙏❤️🙏

I’m John Barry, Sally’s youngest brother.  I learned a lot and am thankful for the “lessons learned” from Sally.  A most willing counsel she was indeed.  She taught me how to “listen” as she  generally had a lot to talk about.  For instance, I learned every line from her Immaculate Conception High School cheers, her days of infrequent partying and ceaseless study in TD3 at Mizzou, her job taking airline reservations and later as a stewardess for American Airlines, how she caught Jim (her gem of a guy), her world of motherhood caring for Tom and Susan, her love of dogs, starting with Love and Kisses and concluding with Zoe, her incredible zest for life and laughter, her unyielding faith and her generosity toward others.  When Sally reaches the Way Station (from Heaven Can Wait) to travel to her final destination, will she ask her escort “Is this Iowa” (from Field of Dreams) and Jim will say “No Sally this is Heaven”.  I will miss Sally dearly and, should I be so fortunate, meet her once again on the other side

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Sally Bonner.   I had the pleasure of meeting her and doing her hair as well. Sending love to all of her family.

My name is John Ahern. I wish to extend my sincere condolences to the Bonner family over the loss of Sally. When I first met Sally, it was clear that I was meeting a very special person. Everything about her made you want to put your best foot forward. She had a wonderful personality and smile, with a marvelous twinkle in her eyes. She was very discerning. We clicked right away. She had a good sense of humor and was extremely witty. May God bless her family, as they go through this time of mourning. The world has lost a special spirit.

The laughter took over when the two of you were together, as I witnessed firsthand many times.  And throw in a few crazy, beloved little doggies and what more did you need for a fun evening at the Bonner household?
