We were so fortunate to have Shirley and George as our next-door neighbors here in Venice, Florida, but I especially benefited from Shirley’s friendship over the years. She had a flair  for decorating and giving ladies luncheons in her beautiful condo.  Her love of Cardinals inspired me to always search for beautiful items that showcased these birds and it was fun to gift her every birthday and Christmas with cardinal themed treasures. We shared domino games at the clubhouse and many intimate conversations. She was a trooper as she coped with various  illnesses and our last visit just  before this Christmas at her rehabilitation facility was heartwarming. Her sweet presence will always be missed.

My dear friend Shirley........

Little did I realize on that September day in 1977, when I began working at ARCO, that I was beginning a lifelong friendship.  Sadly today, almost 50 years later, I say goodbye to that dear friend. 

Shirley was a friend who brought warmth to every conversation and a loyalty that never wavered. She was the embodiment of kindness and joy always thinking of others.  She possessed this incredible ability to brighten even the darkest days with just a smile.

The memories we created together will forever remain a cherished part of my life.  We've walked through so much together, hand in hand, heart to heart.  We raised our children together, we supported each other during relationship ups and downs, ...I could go on and on.

Her spirit will forever live on in my heart and her memory will continue to inspire me to live life to the fullest."

My heart is undoubtedly heavy with sorrow, yet at the same time, brimming with gratitude. Therefore, I say thank you, Shirley, for your unwavering friendship.

Shirley was loved by many and will be remembered by her laughter, kindness, and concern for others. Our friendship started when we rented George and Shirley's condo and lead to parties, visits to nursing homes, and going to church. She will be dearly missed.

Shirley loved Cardinals , redbirds ! So i thought i would share these two birds that represent peace ! We shared so many thoughts and memories talking about my family and her Australian family! I will miss those moments!🙏
