July 13, 1966 - March 4, 2025 – Aged 58
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Stephany Lee Hughitt Van Alstyne on March 4, 2025. Born with the name "Stephany," meaning "crown"—a symbol of power—she truly embodied this meaning. She was a powerful woman, full of love, adventure, and wisdom. Her energy, spirit, and resilience will continue to live on in all who knew her.
Stephany's life was defined by love—love for her family, love for animals, and an enduring passion for exploring the world. She cherished the bond she shared with her husband and soulmate, whom she loved more than life itself. As a devoted mother, she adored her daughter deeply. Stephany was the heart and soul of her family, and her love for them was felt in every moment they shared.
An accomplished traveler, Stephany visited over 20 countries, sharing her adventures with the world through her travel blog. Her love for new places and experiences was matched only by her love of cooking and food—always planning the next meal, even in the middle of the current one. She knew how to make every moment memorable.
Stephany’s love for animals was unmatched. She had a special bond with the squirrels (especially Fuzzer), birds, and other critters that visited their home. Her compassion extended to all living things, and she made sure to feed and care for them as if they were family, always carrying a bag of peanuts in her purse, just in case.
Stephany enjoyed riding horses and competing in equestrian sports, a passion she carried with her throughout her life. She found peace in the outdoors—whether kayaking, enjoying the beach, or birdwatching from her backyard. Her zest for life was contagious—just like her radiant smile.
Stephany was a force of nature—smart, resilient, and fiercely independent. She could solve any problem with determination, and her firm beliefs made her a steadfast friend. Her life was cut far too short, but there is no doubt she is off on her next grand adventure. We take comfort in knowing her spirit will continue to live on in all of us who had the privilege of knowing her.
Stephany was not just a mother, wife, daughter, sister, and best friend—she was a light in this world. And though she may have left this mortal realm, her love and presence are felt stronger than ever. She will be dearly missed, but we take solace in knowing that her powerful spirit will guide us forevermore.
