Steven Jay Ackerman

Steven Jay Ackerman, 72, of Sarasota, passed suddenly March 15, 2026. Steve was born March 16, 1953 in Fort Riley KS, the oldest of 4 boys. Steve graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. Steve was also known to go by Steverino by his loving wife and best friend, Sue, whom he married on June 4, 1990. They then moved to Sarasota and enjoyed 35 wonderful years of marriage. Steve spent a majority of his career working alongside his brother Scott at ACS, Ackerman Computer Sciences.

Steve had a passion for photography, often photographing his beloved grandchildren or nature. Steve had many hobbies over the years including playing the piano and was a lover of all things technology. Steve loved a good project and enjoyed spending time helping others.

Steve is survived by his wife, Susan, two stepchildren, Jeff Hopkins, and Jennifer Rohrer, and son-in-law Joey. Grandchildren Grace Hopkins, Jackson Hopkins, Avani Rohrer, Arius Rohrer and Grand dog, Simon. Brothers Mark (Loretta) Ackerman, George (Tori) Ackerman, Scott (Kris) Ackerman, Nieces and nephews Jennifer (Jon) Edwards, Melissa (Steve) Roberts, Cobi (Ian) McGee, Kevin (Kaila Hess) Ackerman, and Kyle Ackerman.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 3, 2026 at 1pm, at Robert Toale & Sons. 170 Honore Ave Sarasota, FL 34232
