Roger DeLayne Olson, age 84, of Wanatah, IN, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2015 in LaPorte, with his loving family at his side. Roger was born June 7, 1931, in Vermillion, SD, to the late Kleng and Edna (Munson) Olson. Also preceding him in death is a sister, Darlene and a brother Elden. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 63 years Beverly (Unger) Olson; his children: Kathy (Jerry) Neill, Michael (Yvonne) Olson, Lori (Joe) Rovi, Lisa (Bill) Benedict, Jon (Susan) Olson, and Thomas (Shannon) Olson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Olson was a dedicated and proud member of the local #150 operator engineers, district #7 of Merrillville. He was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, who taught his family through example. He will be missed by all who loved him. Visitation will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral at Chapel Lawn Memorial Funeral Home (8178 S. Cline Ave., Schererville, IN 46375).
