Sardarani Agya Kaur lived an exemplary life as a homemaker, mother, grandmother, and a giver of love to all in our community. She had a blissful married life for 44 years with her late husband, (S. Gursaran Singh Ichhpurani) who retired as a Central Govt Mines & Safety Director General in India. She resided in Bihar, Bengal, Rajasthan, and Andhra Pradesh before finally retiring with her late husband in Hyderabad until 1991. She adapted very well to each of these various states' cultures. She had a deep interest in cooking and collected recipes of diverse cuisines and languages.
Then came her life of living independently for the next 31 years, which she fulfilled with grit and discipline of a gurmukh. She devoted her life to her grandchildren and moved to the USA permanently in 2001. She loved gardening and enjoyed cooking meals for others with her fresh vegetables, anyone who knew her knew about her cooking. She was a regular member at GuruNanakDwara community and was very popular with the kids, as she would frequently give candy when they would recite Gurbani to her. She had a huge love for babies and knew how to make them feel safe and happy. She had a friendly smile and hug which worked like magnets for a new sangat to connect with her. She made friends young and old alike in Gurdwara and shared her life with the Sikh community. She will be missed immensely.
A funeral service for Agya will be held Sunday, September 4, 2022 at 9:30 AM at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 North Hayden Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85257.
