Alan spent his formative years in Kearny, NJ. He holds degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from San Francisco State University. He retired over 20 years ago from Arizona Public Service. His position at APS when he retired was the Company's Director of Pricing and Regulation.
Alan spent over 50 years diligently serving Kiwanis in the Phoenix area. He also volunteered for over 18 years at John C. Lincoln Hospital, now Honor Health.
Alan sometimes could be perceived as hard-nosed, but those who really knew him came to realize he had a soft and kind side to him.
He had an appreciation for live music, art, golf, and books. Through the years, his purpose in life was to help people and encourage them to gain degrees to advance their careers. Hence, after retirement he taught classes at the Maricopa County Community College for several years.
Alan is survived by his wife, Rita; son Gregory, his wife Meredith, and their sons Marcos and Thaddeus; Alan's sister Sheila Laiks, and her two children Pam Helnick and Jenny Perkins.
May Alan's memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
If desired, a donation may be made in Alan's name to the Alzheimer Association at www.alz.org.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 2:00PM at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85257. A reception will follow at Green Acres Mortuary.
