

Betty Jane Marshall, of Douglas, Arizona passed away on July 24, 2022 at the age of 98, in Scottsdale, Arizona. She was born on November 9, 1923, a birthday she shared with her sister Mary, brother George and first grandson Christopher. She was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania to George W. and Mary (Hendricks) Goodhart and was the sixth of nine children.
Betty attended McCaskey High School where she was a member of the swimming and field hockey teams. After graduating in 1941, Betty went to work for Hamilton Watch Company. During World War II, Betty became part of the "Rosie the Riveter" work force when Hamilton Watch was assigned the task of providing navigational instruments for war ships. She married Richard Marshall in 1948. They were married for sixty-six years until Richard's death in 2014. They decided to move to Douglas, Arizona when Richard accepted a job as an English teacher at Douglas Junior High. Betty was an outgoing and friendly person who treated everyone with respect, dignity and kindness. Betty was a homemaker until all four of her children were in school, at which time she went to work for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. After retiring from Mountain Bell, Betty went to work for Southeastern Arizona Federal Credit Union.
Betty was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Douglas, Arizona. She was loving and kind to all, and very generous to those in need. She enjoyed her everyday walks and reading Louis L'Amour western novels. She was always learning and trying new things, from gardening to painting. Her favorite past time was spending time with her family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her eight brothers and sister and her husband Richard, and her son Tom. She is survived by her sons: Steve (Linda) of Bisbee, Arizona, Curtis (Kay) of Payson, Arizona, Rich (Jerry) of Scottsdale, Arizona, and daughter-in-law Diana of Sparks, Nevada. She is also survived by her six grandchildren: Christopher, Alexis (John Paul), Dustin, Jenna (Steve), Caitlyn, and Alissa; and her five great-grandchildren: Bostyn, Luna, Vega, Nora, and Thomas.

Services will be held at 10:00am at the Green Acres Mortuary, 401 North Hayden Rd Scottsdale, AZ. Burial will be at the National Veteran's Cemetery of Arizona.
