Christie Lohkamp of Scottsdale, Arizona, was born on July 20, 1967, in Malta, where her father worked as a drilling rig supervisor. She joined the Lord on January 7, 2022, with dear friends at her side, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Sharron Lohkamp. Christie was a devoted and loving daughter and she cared for her mother for many years after her father’s death in 1977.
Christie attended high school in Haysville, Kansas, and then attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. Afterwards, she went on to attend Wichita State University, and during that time she worked as a dispatcher at the Haysville Police Department. Christie obtained her law degree from Drake University. She obtained a Master of Healthcare Management from Seton Hall University. Christie was the Director of Corporate Tax at Mayo Clinic until 2020, when her illness prevented her from continuing in her position.
Christie loved and served the Lord tirelessly, and she faithfully supported several missions. She loved her church, Phoenix Christian Assembly, and she was a lifelong student of the Bible and led many Bible studies. Christie had so many dear friends from the churches she attended over the years in Kansas, Minnesota and Arizona.
Christie was an adventurer and she loved to travel. She visited many countries including Norway, Africa, Dubai, the Turks and Caicos Island, just to name a few, and she loved to go on cruises. Her most recent adventurous escapade was skydiving! Christie loved Dr. Pepper, chocolate, volleyball, books, playing board games with friends, needlepoint, and jigsaw puzzles. She will be dearly missed.
Christie is survived by her cousins: Weldon, Sam, Paul, Esther, Anna, Ron and Lisa, and numerous dear friends across the country.
To honor Christie’s devotion to her church and mission work, donations may be made to the Phoenix Christian Assembly Missions Fund.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.greenacresmortuary.net for the Lohkamp family.
