

David Alan Sterbenz, 57, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly March 11, 2022. David was born June 10, 1964 in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, the second of five children of Rudy and Violet Sterbenz. As a young child, he and his family relocated to Arizona, where he spent the rest of his life.
David attended Coronado High School and developed a love for mechanics. As a teenager, he started his own auto mechanic business, Dave’s Final Touch, which he still successfully operated until he passed. Throughout his life he also ran a number of other businesses that added to his success and legacy. He was a very smart man with endless ideas, and he could fix anything that was put in front of him. He loved and collected classic cars, as well as coins, natural artifacts like shark teeth & shells, and historic pistols. He loved to travel and being outside. He was always watching the Phoenix Suns and Diamondbacks games. David enjoyed spending time at the casino and having conversations with people. He loved to crack jokes and tell stories.
David is survived by his daughter, Valleen Day (Frank), his grandchildren, Tavin, Luna, and River, his mother, Violet Sterbenz, his siblings Rudy “Joe” Sterbenz, Stephen Sterbenz (Cipriana), Patty Vincent (Forrest) and Michael Sterbenz (Phuong), many nieces and nephews, and his loyal dog, Sarge. He was preceded in death by his father, Rudy Sterbenz in 2013, and his beloved German Shepherd, Repo.
Services will be held Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 10:30am (Rosary 10am) at St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church in Scottsdale. Family and friends are welcome to attend. David will be laid to rest at Green Acres Mortuary and Cemetery.
