Today is flag day. It is the perfect day to lay to rest our dear friend and neighbor Dayol Hart. Almost every day when I would be leaving for work, he would be out putting up his flag and I would get my morning smile and a wave - and I would drive away with a smile and that warm fuzzy feeling you get when you are around him.
I will miss him; he is the reason I learned to make apricot cobbler, apricot pie, and apricot ice cream topping ! He showed me how to properly paint my orange tree and tried to teach us how to trim the mulberry - he had such a way with plants and was just a very smart person who gave the best advice, and always left you feeling good about life !
Every year he would bring us his collection of calendars and let us pick our favorites, for years these calendars have been hung on the wall by our phone and we keep track of our schedule there He impacted our lives for the better in so many ways and we are forever grateful we were blessed to have Dayol and Marge next door, they even accepted our barking and howling bonehounds with grace.
For many many years of friendship and support, I am grateful.
GODSPEED Dayol and Marge :)
