Delbert James Emmons

Adelberto “Delbert” James Emmons, 79, died in Gilbert, Arizona on November 30, 2019.
Delbert grew up in Buckeye, Arizona, graduated from Phoenix High School, and served in the U.S. Air Force as an airplane mechanic from x to x. He then went to Arizona State University (ASU) to study geology and chemistry. He met his future wife, Julia Elizalde Martinez, in chemistry class at ASU. After graduating, he got work as a chemist in the labs of several Arizona mining corporations including Phelps Dodge, Cyprus, and Freeport McMoran. Delbert and Julia married on September 6, 1964 and recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. He served in the Air Force from 1957-1961. They had two children, Michael Vincent and Christina Elizabeth. Delbert retired in 2007 to dedicate his time to help care for his grandchild.
Delbert was the youngest of Manford Emmons’ and Guadalupe Navidad’s 13 children. He is predeceased by his son, Michael Vincent, and is survived by his wife Julia, daughter Christina Nipko (Johnathon), grandson Gabriel Nipko, step grandsons Zachary and Tyler Nipko, and step granddaughter, Cheyenne Nipko. The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley for the help they provided Delbert in his final days, and all the doctors, nurses, and aides who provided such wonderful and heartfelt care.
Memorial Services in his honor will be held at 10:00am Friday December 13th, 2019 at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery, 401 N Hayden Rd. Scottsdale, AZ. Visitation will be Friday December 13 from 9:00 am until time of service.
