Dennis Elwyn Nieman

Dennis was born at home on the farm in Thompson Township, IL on February 20, 1934 to Archie & Anna (Siegle) Niemann (preceding him are his parents, sisters Doris Niemann, Madelyn Kottwitz, brother Donald Niemann, and son in law Timothy Rees).

Air Force Airman Second Class, Dennis Nieman is originally from Thompson Township, Illinois and served in the Air Force from 1952-1956. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).

After high school, Dennis enlisted in the Air Force and served as a Carpentry Specialist. He spent most of his enlistment at Rhein-Main Air Base in Frankfort, Germany. For his service, Dennis was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked at Kelly Springfield Tire Company in Freeport, IL later, retiring after 30 years in German Valley, IL, then moved to Scottsdale, AZ in 2009.

Dennis is survived by his daughters, Doris Rees of Richmond, TX, Debra (Greg) Ohlinger of Scottsdale, AZ, 2 brothers, Darrel (Leslie) Niemann of Stockton, IL, Daylon (Diane) Niemann of Waren, IL sister, Geraldine Witkowski of Urbanal, IL. Dennis was formerly married to Lieselotte Burnett of Mesa, AZ, the mother of his children. He has 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
