Donald Albert Robbins

Donald graduated from Lafayette College in Easton, PA, in 1964 with a degree in Chemistry. He dedicated his entire career to Asarco, starting after graduation and eventually retiring as Director of Environmental Sciences in 2009.

He was the beloved husband of Marilyn Anne Plequette for 61 years. The couple first lived in New Jersey where they welcomed their three children: Donna, David, and Pamela. Due to a job transfer, Donald and Marilyn moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1972. They later moved to the Phoenix area in 2003, where they both eventually retired.

Donald was a man who centered his life around family time. He loved taking advantage of Utah's beautiful outdoors, spending many weekends with his children in the mountains to ski, fish, or camp. He became an excellent cook over the years, known as a perfectionist with any recipe he attempted. He was an avid gardener and got pretty skilled at growing all kinds of vegetables.

He enjoyed playing games with his family and grandchildren and was known as an exceptional Scrabble player and his knowledge of trivia was uncanny. Donald was a lifelong collector of Lionel trains, and every Thanksgiving, he would transform half of the downstairs into an elaborate train yard complete with mountains and houses. He would often invite classes from local elementary schools to observe his creation, which they loved.

In his retirement he spent his time volunteering with his church (The Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church of Cave Creek) working with the Arizona Food Pantry to prepare and deliver food and as the best poll worker in Maricopa County.

Donald is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his sister, Doris Gould, of Northbrook, IL; his three children, and four grandchildren.

Memorial service will be at 11am on Saturday, May 16 at The Good Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church 6528 E Cave Creek Rd
