Geeta Ravi Nair was born in Ahmadabad, Gujarat to Vitthalbhai and Hiralaxmi Patel on June 30th, 1954. She studied at G.P.P High School and further onto B.Com from Nursi Munji College at Vile Parle West. At this time she was also working in Bombay, where she met her life partner, Ravi Nair, and they were married on September 6, 1977, Janmastrami Day, at the Arya Samaj Temple. Soon after they were wed they pursued a new life together overseas in the Gulf state of Bahrain. During the following years together in Bahrain they were blessed with two children Rachit & Roma along with many valued friendships. After several happy years in Bahrain, the family had the opportunity to move to the United States where Geeta was reunited with her parents and sisters. Few months later, with the help of Vinodmama and family, all four of them shifted to Arizona where Ravi had a new job offer. Over the next two decades Geeta and Ravi explored the world and created many priceless memories as they grew in love to celebrate 36 wonderful years of marriage. Many say that they were a match made in heaven, and that they shall find each other again in another life. Though her partnership and daily presence in her home will be forever missed, her spirit will live on through the lives of those most important to her and wonderful memories shared by her loved ones.
She enjoyed listening to and singing old hindi songs, particularly from movies starring Nargis and Meenakumari. She had the voice of an angel and her smile and laughter could lighten any mood or brighten any day. Not to mention she was always the life of the party! She loved making people laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest every moment she could. She was always trying to help others no matter how small or big the undertaking and I know this amongst many other things was what drew people to her. She often showed an admirable level of patience and was thorough and meticulous regardless of the importance of the task at hand. Many of us can only hope to achieve the inner strength she possessed, even in her last moments and we will never forget her generous, compassionate and caring nature.
The Nair family wishes to extend our sincere thanks for the generous love and support from friends and family at this impossible time. Also, we’re incredibly thankful for the excellent medical care she received from the staff at Mayo Hospital, Scottsdale Healthcare Shea ICU, and St. Joseph’s Hospital CTICU. We also would like to thank Pundit Shukla in particular for performing this ceremony for us even though the task was hard on him. He and Geeta shared a special bond throughout her years and she would have wanted her final blessings to come from none other than Pundit Shukla. We are forever grateful for his personal sacrifice and his compassion and of course for his friendship with Geeta.
Geeta Ravi Nair is survived by many people who deeply loved and cared for her spanning several countries and continents. She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece and friend and her spirit and presence will be forever cherished and missed.
