James Howard Counsell

James “Howard” Counsell, 84, of Tempe, Arizona, passed away on February 23, 2020 at Banner Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. He was born in Dresden, Tennessee on September 29, 1935 the son of James and Thelma (Abernathy) Counsell. Howard married the love of his life, Linda Counsell (VanHook) on July 6, 1957 in Royal Oak, Michigan she preceded him in death. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and dedicated to his career in postal service for 36 years. Howard had many passions in life such as; doing the Lord’s work; reading; history; movies and watching football. He also would express his creative side through painting with oil, acrylic and even woodworking. Howard is survived by his three daughters; Cindy Aldridge, Patti Ramey and Libby Barnes; grandchildren; Casey Aldridge, Jenna Thomas, Brian Ramey, Tonya Ramey, Michael Barnes, Roshelle McAddis, Ezekiel Barnes, Samuel Barnes; great-grandchildren; Milo Thomas, Kaleb Barnes, Eben McAddis; and siblings; Bobbie Westerby, Diane Martin and Mike Counsell.
